The Wartenberg wheel is a small instrument for sensing the sensibility according to the model designed by Robert Wartenberg. It consists of a handle with handle and a rotating wheel with spikes. In diagnostic application, the Wartenberg wheel is slowly rolled over the affected skin areas and the patient’s findings are documented. In this way, pressure and pain sensations can be assessed quantitatively. The spines on the Wartenberg wheel are sufficiently sharp for point-shaped stimulation but not sharp enough for penetration of the skin.
